Oh, no! It's bathtime!!!

Yes, for the dogs, tonight was that dreaded time that comes around every several months... bathtime! And they weren't happy about it!





They do their best to look as miserable as possible, but there are times when you just can't cave in to those sad puppy faces. The dogs needed baths. They were starting to smell like... um, dogs? Well, like stinky dogs, since they don't usually smell bad. Fortunately for them, they don't need baths very often. And when they do get bathed, it's very quick because their short coats don't require too much shampooing and rinsing. It's not all bad! The shower in our basement is just for them since it's a stand up shower with a detachable shower head for easier rinsing. It really makes things a lot easier for both the bath giver and the bath getter. The dogs are really rather good about getting their baths and don't put up much of any fuss once they're in the shower. If Boris knows an impending bath is coming, he'll avoid getting near the bathroom at all costs and we have to chase him in there. That's one of those times where we get to see just how nimble and agile our three-legged dog can be. But both dogs will actually get in the shower when asked to do so. That is, after the bathroom door is barricaded and they realize they have no way out! My favorite part of the dogs' bathtime is watching their rituals after they've had their baths and have been toweled off and are finally set free from the bathroom. Roxie likes to dry off on the sofa and rolls around all over it. And Boris runs around like a wild bronco, sporting a goofy grin on his face. It never fails. They always do this and it's always entertaining. So for now, the dogs smell clean and have nice soft coats. I'm sure that'll change as soon as they find something gross to roll around in outside.
