Ouch!

When you have dogs, certain things go with the territory. You can't have nice things, because they invariably get chewed on, barfed on, knocked over, broken, or just plain need to be hidden and never used so that they don't get chewed on, barfed on, or broken. You can't have white or light colored furniture, carpets, bedding, or clothing unless you enjoy the look of muddy pawprints on your stuff. And of course, you get pretty good at basic doggy first aid.

After a nice walk in the park this morning, the dogs were hanging out on the sofa and I noticed that Roxie had gotten attacked by some sort of bug(s) on her lower shoulder while we were out.



That was some bug bite! But after applying some Benadryl spray, it was barely noticeable in less than an hour and she didn't seem to be bothered by it at all.

We've had an ongoing battle with lick granulomas on Boris' back legs on and off over the past several years. It's probably because his Wobblers is creating weird sensations in his back legs and he starts licking at his legs, and licking, and licking, and licking, and eventually a persistent sore develops. Let me tell you that these sores are very tough to get rid of. For his last one, he had to wear his cone for several weeks whenever we were out of the house, lest he lick his leg into a bloody mess. We also religiously applied a steroid cream and wrapped his leg in vet wrap until the sore was healed. We had just "won" the war against his last lick sore several weeks ago, and just this past week, Boris has started another one.



The new one is on the left, the one that just healed over is on the right. So we're back to square one. Cone, ointment, vet wrap. This is war!!!
