Good News and Pooltime Fun!

Boris had his two month re-check today with his oncologist. His chest xrays were clear and he's looking good!!! He weighed 89 lbs. today, which is around where his weight was when he still had four legs. Hey, he had a nice breakfast today about an hour before his appointment! While he's not overweight, his oncologist doesn't want him putting on any more weight because excess pounds could aggravate his Wobblers and he's already got enough stress on his neck as it is, what with only having one front leg to bear all that weight up front. Still though, the fact that he hasn't been losing weight is a very good thing since cancer patients can have problems keeping weight on and with muscle wasting. Boris' next check up is in three months. At that point, we may consider another round of pamidronate treatments since it'll be six months since his last round of pamidronate. But until then, unless there's a drastic change in his condition, he doesn't need any other treatments at this time. Boris was pretty tired when we got home from the oncologist's and settled in on the couch for a long nap.



Roxie was up for some fun though and went nuts when I started watering the garden. So being the good, obedient human that I am, I set her pool up so she could frolic and cool down a little.



When she calmed down from killing the hose, she was willing to try laying down in the pool when I asked her to.



She was a bit skeptical about sitting and then laying down in the water at first, but then when I told her "ok!!" to let her know she could get up, she stayed there for awhile afterwards. She really loves playing with the hose and in her pool and it's tough to get her to come back inside the house when pooltime is over. It'll be a sad thing when summer is over and the pool has to go into hibernation for the winter.
