New RE!!!

Roxie finished up her Rally Excellent (RE) title in style today with a score of 92 and 4th place! She had a good performance overall in spite of a couple of spots where she had some slow sits when she got a little distracted by the goings on in and outside the building. There were also a ton of buds from the trees all over the ring matting today because they had the doors open and stuff blew into the building. She seemed not to be bothered so much by the stuff on the floor for a change, but was really interested in what was going on outdoors. She's such a nosy girl!

Today's performance was gratifying because while the outside sights and sounds were tempting distractions for Roxie, she did manage to do her job -- pretty nicely, too! -- and I managed to do mine and not blow any exercises with frustrating handling errors like we had in the last two trials. This was a very nice way to wrap up her RE.

From here, we'll be going for Rox's RAE title. Since we need 10 double Q's to earn this title, it'll take us awhile to get this one. I'm not sure if there are enough shows in the area to finish this year, but we're going to try to make some really good progress towards that this year at the very least -- hopefully, at least 5 of the 10 legs we need. When Roxie eventually earns her RAE, she'll be one of only a few Manchester Terriers to *ever* earn an RAE. I know of only 2 Manchester Terriers that have their RAEs currently. So that will be pretty cool! Our first attempt for an RAE leg will be in the middle of May at a small local outdoor trial. Roxie gets the day off tomorrow to enjoy at the park without me harassing her to do some obedience work. After that, we'll be back to practicing our rally and obedience stuff daily and keep moving forward to our next training goal.
